Unforgettable Gordon River Cruise at Strahan

I'll never forget the visit to Strahan and under a Gordon River Cruise. Strahan is located on the western coast of Tasmania, is Australia's beautiful island state.

For a city with a population of around 700, I was surprised that the city center very touristy. The advantage is that you do not need to look too far for information on attractions. It is easily accessible to the right along the main road.

We climbed the Gordon River cruise boat at 9 clock. OfStrahan, the boat at high speed on the harbor entrance, known as Hells Gates traveled. Where did this name? Well convicts heading for the Sarah had Iceland penal colony to go this route. And this was the name she came with you, in the expectation of what came to life like for them. Sounds pretty grim all right ...

Hells Gates With our boat tickets left the safety of the harbor and traveled to the open sea for a little while. This allowed us a brief tasteThe Roaring Forties, which found known as strong westerly winds 40 to 50 degrees latitude. And that is exactly where Tasmania is located.

Not sure how well would keep my sea legs, I was glad we did not stay out too long! But yes, I did the same in any case a feeling for what it must have been like for sailors and convicts, found themselves at the mercy of these winds. There was a new meaning to the phrase "between the devil and the deep blue sea, caught!

AsThe boat went back into the harbor, I saw a few lighthouses. When I was a photo of Iceland Bonnet Lighthouse, I asked myself what it means to be living there ...

Soon after we arrived at a salmon farm. It was a case of great timing, as we had just passed, when fish are fed. We did not miss that either photo opportunity!

The boat stopped at Sarah Iceland, where we historically considered, remains one of the first penal colony in Tasmania. The guide told us aboutSarah lives in Iceland during the period of the convicts. We were, what we learned surprised at the attempted escapes, beatings and brutal conditions.

From Sarah Iceland, visited the boat on the Gordon River Heritage Landing. We had a stop there, so we take a walk through the countryside and admire the beauty of an ancient Huon Pine Forest lead.

Back on the ship we are hidden away in a delicious buffet lunch. I had never decided in salmon before interest, but give it a try. I wassurprised that I really liked the taste of it.

To our delight, we were invited to hang for a little while on the bridge of the master. The captain was happy to answer our questions. Most of the time but we keep silent, but grateful for the chance to be there.

We felt very satisfied when the boat flew back to Strahan. The 6 hour drive was quite enjoyable. We had had a very nice lunch and he was no longer of Tasmania is remarkableHistory. Best of all, we had fixed in a position to focus our attention on some of the amazing wonders of nature had to offer in this part of Tasmania.
