Me on the cruise address Cunard Princess 1994

This was on the Cunard Princess en route from Corfu to Venice in 1994. I always brag to people that I have played piano on a cruise ship. Well here it is. Ok it's only a talent show but it's just the same. This was actually the second time I have done this but the first time, a year before, I froze half way through and I WONT be putting that on YouTube. Ok there are a couple of 'bum' notes on this performance but we carry on and get to the end eventually. I hadn't realised just how 'mature' the audience was then, but they enjoyed it and for the rest of the cruise I was recognised where ever we went. Fame at last!! Well, almost. PS. Please excuse the hair. I was in my curly hair phase. I soon got through that I can tell you!

Finding the Best Caribbean Cruise Deal

Do you want to take a Caribbean cruise but want to find the best deal? Many cruise lines offer great deals so you can experience the Caribbean for less. Most people only check into cruise lines they are familiar with such as royal Caribbean, which is a wonderful and popular cruise line. However there are many other ships that also offer a great Caribbean cruise deal so don't overlook them.

The trick to finding the best Caribbean cruise deal is in the timing. For instance, if you wanted to cruise during the busiest time of year you will find that it will also be the most expensive time of year. To find the best price check out different dates and compare prices. Try to find the dates that cost the least to save you money. This may take some time, but be patient, it is well worth it. Sometimes you can even find fantastic prices by booking a cruise at the last minute as this is the time that cruise lines are trying to fill all the cabins to take a full ship. The good news is that the Caribbean usually has good weather all year long.

There are many avenues to finding the best Caribbean cruise deal such as through travel agents, calling cruise lines, or searching online. Any of these options are great for finding good deals for you; however, timing is still the key. So do your homework and be flexible and you will find the best Caribbean cruise deal to fit your budget.

Alaska Cruise Lines

Among the famous cruise lines offering services in Alaskan seas are the Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Princess, Radisson, Norwegian, Holland America, and American Safari. Each cruise line has its own ships and itineraries, and is most active in the peak season between May and September.

The Royal Caribbean Cruise Liner is one of the most famous Alaskan cruise liners. Its main ship is the Radiance of the Seas, with sister ships Serenade of the Seas and Vision of the Seas. Royal Caribbean provides an eight-day, seven-night Alaskan cruise. Royal Caribbean Cruise Line specializes in cruising along frontier towns, and glacier cruising.

The Princess Cruise Line is highly recommended by cruise critics. Its huge ships are often called floating cities due to the vast number of restaurants, Broadway theatres, casinos, health spas, movie halls, lounges, discotheques and other forms of relaxation present onboard. Their popular ships are the Diamond Princess, Sapphire Princess, Coral Princess, and Island Princess. They have weeklong itineraries, and people can book them either during their northward or southward voyages.

The Celebrity Cruise Line is known for its fleet of large opulent ships like Zenith, Mercury, Infinity, Constellation, Summit, and Millennium. Celebrity has recently launched ships in the Xpedition class, which are made for adventure cruises.

Besides the huge cruise lines, small ships are also very popular. Small ships have better navigation ability and hence are favorites among adventure seekers. Lindblad specializes in its small cruise ships that can hold up to 120 guests. Holland America has five ships, namely Statendam, Veendam, Ryndam, Zaandam, and Volendam, which offer small cruises on the Inside Passage and Glacier Bay.

American Safari provides long as well as short Alaskan cruises in yachts. Their yacht Safari Quest has both five day-four night as well as eight day-seven night cruises. Safari Spirit and Safari Escape also conduct fortnightly cruises to Alaska. Most cruises conducted by American Safari are chartered, and the charter rates for the Safari Quest are about $58,000 for five days.

Carribean Cruise

Caribbean Cruises are among the most demanded cruise vacations in the world; with almost two million plus travelers sailing on different liners every year. Warm tropical climates sprinkled with great beaches, exotic foods and excellent tourist spots in a chain of fine islands is a hot tourist destination in the world. Cruising along Caribbean is very popular as the liner anchors at different ports in different islands giving cruisers a rare opportunity to explore the whole region. Cruises to any country are fun as they offer comfort at one's finger tips and amenities of top order.

Planning for a future Caribbean Cruise is relatively easy nowadays, as most of the cruise liners have their details listed on their own web portals. Tour operators abound all over the continent and a lightening speed service is almost assured on a click of a mouse button. A well planned tour schedule might well work advantageous as tourists clog the liners during vacation time. Depending on the season, cabins may get completely booked months before the cruise is scheduled to set sail and hotel accommodation becomes too difficult. Caribbean cruise bookings can be made either online or by tour operators. Here comes the most difficult part of the plan; choosing the right liner! Most of the cruise liners vie each other for their share of almost two million prospective travelers. The competition among these cruise line operators is very fierce and getting the major chunk of the lot is the ultimate motto! Never ever get confused as to which liner should be chosen! Well, it depends on your objective.Travelling with full family? Then choose a liner which offers facilities for tiny toddlers to mature adults. Keep in mind the comfort of elders too! Teenagers need special attention on the cruise liners. For instance, if the time allotted for the planned cruise is for the family, it makes a perfect sense to choose a Disney cruise; it might be best since these ships design activities specifically for children and teens. May be a liner which is based on family themes. There are liners for travelers on a tight budget too! Traveling couples should opt for a quiet ship with romance theme; likes of Princess Cruise is a wonder! Fat wallets can find some of the most luxurious liners which offer anything and every thing except moon! Look for liners known for their top notch services such as Crystal, Silversea, or the new Queen Mary II. However, it is best decided with a cool mind after surfing over the information provided by them in their online portals.

Of the numerous cruise liners bound to Caribbean Islands, each offers a variety of price, schedule, and island stop options. Pick your dream ship liner-be it an extravagant vacation aboard a floating luxury hotel, a romantic getaway with your loved one on a love liner, or an activity-filled voyage on a family cruiser. Almost, 20 different classes of cruise liners travel over to different parts of Caribbean! Four classes of cruises are right now available and pick any one of them depending on your objective, budget, time, places to visit and the facilities offered. Contemporary/Value class caters mostly to tight budget travels while premium, luxury and specialty classes cater to those special classes traveling on extravagance, comfort and status.

Carnival and Royal Caribbean are two of the most popular contemporary/value cruise lines and together make up almost 90% of the entire cruise industry. These are designed for people with tight budget and on popular holidays. Premium cruises are more expensive and the ships aren't too large, but the service is considered superior to that of a contemporary/value cruise. Ocean liners like Celebrity, Princess, and Holland America boast a larger online staff for fewer passengers. . Ocean cruise liners like Seabourn, Windstar and Cunard belong to this highest class and offer top-notch service and amenities and are designed for those who are high society and premium grade. Specialty cruises like American Hawaii cruises sail to a secluded and unique destination and are exclusively designed for special passengers like elders, singles and some times gays and lesbians too.

Make Steady Money as a Travel Writer: Secrets of Selling Travel Stories-Without Traveling

Make Steady Money as a Travel Writer: Secrets of Selling Travel Stories-Without Traveling Review

Reviewed by Olivera Baumgartner-Jackson for Reader Views (2/09)

Jack Adler's "Make Steady Money as a Travel Writer" is a refreshingly honest and direct book about what sells in the travel writing market. Filled with sample articles, it would give any prospective travel writer good benchmarks to assess their writing skills, and enough practical advice to change and improve the areas that need to be corrected.

The book clearly focuses on how to find areas of writing that will be of interest to travel publications and how one should develop a niche, preferably one involving one's previous experiences, background and strengths. While most of us would probably think of travel writing as something mostly devoted to writing about destinations, Mr. Adler shows us the wealth of other travel-related options out there. Let me number just a few, and I bet your reaction would have been the same as mine, "Who would have thought of that?" While writing about some exotic island might be a whole lot of fun, your article about the ever changing rules for air travel, health insurance for traveling, RVs or special interest travel might sell considerably faster, and while not involving travel to a wonderful remote place, it also won't involve high cost of such travel.

After providing the prospective writer with a slew of ideas, Mr. Adler continues providing valuable advice on how to research and market one's article, and how to write a catchy lead. Considering the number of submissions every editor probably comes across, that was one of my favorite sections in the book. If all of this is still not enough for you, there are several more imminently useful chapters, dealing with such diverse issues as the editing issues, contracts, copyright, photography tips, preparation of proposals, entering contests, working at home and IRS issues.

While the sample articles - as the author candidly tells us - are rather dated, they still provide valuable insight into how to write a good travel related article. More importantly, their variety will give you an idea of the vastness of the field of travel writing and the niches that might just be the perfect fit for an individual like you.

In spite of the fact that this book is geared toward travel writing, there are many sections that would be beneficial for all writers trying to enter the publishing field. Just consider the sections on Leads, Getting Started, Tips to Develop Clarity and Verve, Research Methods and Outlets, Launching a Column, Contracts and Copyright, Writing Queries and Editing Process, for example - those are valuable tips for any writer. That is why I would suggest Jack Adler's "Make Steady Money as a Travel Writer" becomes a permanent resident on bookshelves of any aspiring writer.

The Alaska Cruise Handbook: A Mile-by-Mile Guide

The Alaska Cruise Handbook: A Mile-by-Mile Guide Review

My wife and I are planning our first Alaska cruise. To prepare, we have purchased and read a number of books during the past four months. We strongly agree this is one of the best! Unlike many books that cover cruise line/ship details or specific port points-of-interest and shore excursions, Joe's book mixes authentic slice of life observations with vivid pictures and relevant historical events. He covers the Inside Passage and Southeast Alaska in depth. There is sufficient coverage of the balance of the state, especially the coastal regions.

I heartily recommend it to Alaskan cruisers, visitors and dreamers alike.

The Alaska Cruise Handbook: A Mile-by-Mile Guide Feature

The Alaska Cruise Handbook: A Mile-by-Mile Guide Overview

Enjoy every minute of your Alaska vacation! With this comprehensive guide to the sights and stops on Alaska and Northwest Passage cruises, you can plan your trip and choose the ports and excursions that you find most appealing. With the author's own wonderful Alaska stories and information on wildlife, native culture, landmarks, historical sites, shopping, and more, you won't miss a thing.

Upton's Handbook traces the route used by most Alaska cruises, with maps and text keyed to a route numbering/navigational system that is frequently announced onboard, allowing the passenger to easily follow his ship's progress from Mile One.

The beautifully illustrated maps and color photography keep you informed throughout your journey, making a wonderful souvenir when it ends.

The Best Time To Take A Cruise

When is the best time to go on holiday to a cruise? Actually it at any time.

No matter the time of year - spring, summer, autumn or winter - there are cruise vacations to suit every taste and budget. Of course, cruise lines, like most companies prices continue their supply and demand, so that season you choose, will leave the cost of your cruise. For example, if you book a cruise in the busiest holiday seasons, which usually have in theVacation to one of the early spring and summer, the cost will be higher than at other times of the year. Conversely, if you book your cruise during slow periods, ie in the fall, late spring and to popular holiday, prices will generally be lower in the.

Year-round destinations

The Caribbean Islands and French Polynesia (Tahiti) are blessed Hawaii climate with a warm, tropical all year long, so it is almost always a good time to visit these destinations. There are someseasonal considerations. For example, Tahiti and Hawaii, a rainy season, which usually ranges from November to March, probably not the best time to visit, especially if you think of trekking through the rain forests!

Also, some travelers may want to avoid season in the Caribbean during the hurricane, especially during the most active period from late August to early October. Does that mean you should not cruise in September? Not really. Some of the best cruise prices are offered during this time. And one of the advantages of traveling by cruise ship this season is that the storms are constantly monitored and mapped alternative courses away from the weather resistance. When a hurricane begins to blow, cruise ships simply transit to calmer waters.

Europe's Mediterranean region used to drive seasonal destination, but the ships with the advent of newer cruisethis offer amenities such as season-extending retractable domes and solariums, the guests use the swimming pool and enjoy the sun to provide year-round. The Mexican Riviera is now a year-round cruise destination, even if you may be thinking about cruising on the Baja region during the summer months when desert temperatures reach in the 100!

Seasonal destinations

Other destinations are seasonal for cruise ships. You can cruise to Alaska and Europe, BalticRegion only between May and September; to Bermuda from May to October, through the Panama Canal from September to April, to Canada and New England in September and October (the high season for the region of spectacular fall colors) and to Asia and Oceania during the winter months.

best times of year to take an Alaska cruise Some of the are during the "shoulder months of May and September. If you do cruise in these months, it is advisable to pack extrawarm clothing as temperatures can drop into the 40s at night and on cooler morning hours, high temperatures are usually in the 50s.

Value Season

In spring and autumn, lines move their ships cruising from one port to another seasonal in a strategic naval movement, called "repositioning." Of course, this move does not empty vessels, but they "go on a" repositioning cruise - a unique, one-way route, which is only available onceYear.

In spring most common routes are the repositioning of the Caribbean to Europe and from the Caribbean to Alaska, in autumn, these routes are reversed. Repositioning cruises are sometimes long and leisurely. For example, repositioning cruises to Alaska are generally popular stops on the shipping company in the Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean itineraries and stops along the Mexican Riviera, and a transit of the Panama Canal.Repositioning cruises offer good value. They can cost less per day than other trips on the same ship. This is partly because longer cruises do not suit everyone's schedule and partly because these cruises sail during the shoulder seasons, when people travel less and demand will be less.

In the end, the best time to cruise is when you are ready to go. Consider all the factors you plan ahead and plan well, then you will enjoy your cruise, regardless of theSeason.

Cruise on Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas

There is no doubt a great ship like Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas with only one other cruise ship. Spend just a few hours on it and find out why.

"To the lover of wilderness, Alaska is one of the most beautiful countries in the world," John Muir. I mention Alaska because that is the journey I took with my wife and in laws, when I sailed on Royal Caribbean Seas on 's ship, the Serenade of the.

For me it was the perfectCruise ship to set sail for this type of 7 days of fun and adventure. With it, floor to ceiling windows from the Champagne Bar, it's great how the construction of balconies of the rooms have been designed to enable you to your neighbors without a huge wall bothers you, speak it a lot better.

It had many amenities, including a complete training facility, an auditorium for events and performances, many souvenir shops and of course the spa and salon, a service that my wifeand I took advantage. We all have the half-hour massage that was worth its price tag. The masseuse was very professional and thorough and after talking with my wife it was just as good. Also, remember, the price you pay does not include your tip and should really be on the level of service, you receive are based.

Another great feature of Serendae of the Seas, the separate pool areas. It is set up so that can enjoy both children and adults and itthe other pool area is only for adults. I found it hard to believe that the families would take children on an Alaskan cruise, but they did, and there was a lot of them.

At the time my wife and I had no children, so I did not want when learning of the children attend activities, but on the upper deck, there was basketball, volleyball, mini golf and a host of other activities, employed to keep kids of all ages and looked like they were having fun.

ForAdults, there were plenty of "water holes" to choose from too wet to whistle at any time during the day. If for some reason just did not want to get out of the seat to belly up to the bar for a drink There have been many friendly waiters and waitresses to attend to your every need.

The journey through the inner channel and see the Hubbard Glacier was Skagway, Ketchikan and Juneau a great trip and I would recommend it. See these pages about the beauty and comfortRoyal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas made by it that much more fun.

Whether you just for a few days or a week you will find that the food on board is not only important how you do the whole stay, but also something that your cruise can add another dimension.

Where Are They Now?

Renaissance Cruises, which ceased operations in late 2001 had 8 R-class ships. These ships can carry 30,277 tons (small by today's standards), about 684 passengers (824 at full power). As a result, 911 (often for the implementation of the final nail in the coffin of guilt), the company is declared bankrupt, after 13 years of operation. The ships are all cruises with other cruise companies. By joining them are three new fleets this year, and a new nameto change. So, where are they now?

R One: Current operating systems such as Insignia for Oceania Cruises

Two R: Current operating systems such as Regatta for Oceania Cruises

Three R: Current operating systems such as Pacific Princess for Princess Cruises

Four R: Current operating systems such as Tahitian Princess for Princess Cruises

Five R: Current operating systems such as for Nautica Oceania Cruises

R Six: Current operating systems such as Blue Star forPullmantur Cruises, Celebrity Quest will soon

Seven R: Current operating systems such as Blue Moon Pullmantur Cruises Journey soon become for Celebrity

Eight R: Current operating systems such as Minerva II for Swan Hellenic soon become Princess Royal

The name changes for R6 and R7 are International in its acquisition of Pullmantur, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity receipt with Pullmantur Zenith, the last of its oldest and smallest Horizon-classShips built in 1992. R8 is moving Hellenic mark, due to the closure of the Swan Princess.

Renaissance also had a number of smaller ships, now cruises with other companies. Perhaps his most famous Renaissance VI, which line works as the Hebridean Spirit Hebridean International Cruises, with a small but luxurious cruise.

Caribbean Cruise Weather - Best and Worst Months to Go

Caribbean cruise weather has fewer risks for travelers planning a trip to the sea rather than on an island for a week for one simple reason - the ship away from the bad weather during an island can not.

Someone can invent one days removable islands, but in the meantime, cruise vacationers consider two important factors in connection with a to weather in the planning. First, the annual Caribbean hurricane season and the second is the temperature drop during theWinter.

The hurricane season runs from 1 June 30 November, but the region has on average only a few storms in June and November. July average of three storms, during August, September and October after an average of four, the U.S. National Weather Service.

Storms in August and October have a moderate risk for the development of hurricanes during September, the highest risk of all.

For these reasons, it is September the worst month of the year, refer to cruise. April and Mayare excellent times to go because they are outside the hurricane season, although some Caribbean destinations in May to see more precipitation than normal.

Considering a cruise with children on summer break in June should be held among families because of the advantage of lower risk, in particular storm in July, followed by.

The Caribbean has a reputation for year-round warmth. While it is true generally, there are some slight changes in temperature from month to month. Air andWater temperatures are noticeably cooler in the northern climates during the winter, resulting in a less attractive Bahamas cruise from December to February.

Who in acquiring cruise in the Caribbean cruise in the western winter should interest a southern Cruise as a better option for warmer weather than either an Eastern or.

Excursions on Caribbean Islands Are Part of the Cruising Experience

One of the issues facing the cruise passenger is whether and how often taken to shore excursions. Tours that are cruise lines organized by the often excellent and informative value, with you to the places you visit, otherwise not. Choose one of the sites with local color, especially when the locals make it an opportunity involves.

A cruise line is usually half a day to organize in and all day tours. A particular advantage is that thisExpect the ship to wait on you when you get back too late. It is worth bearing in mind that your job is, the ship back in time. The captain has to wait not for you. Your cruise will usually have from 6:00 clock in wait time clock left by 8.00 and can be prepared. For this reason I support the morning for self-guided tours, breaks just in case the taxi in a remote part of the island.

Visits to places of historical interest can probably cheaper by organizedHire a taxi with friends and negotiating the conditions for a tour for tomorrow, maybe $ 10 (U.S.) each. Taxis in the Caribbean are often small buses, are the people that up to 10 You may be lucky and find a good driver, who is also a guide, but if you have studied your guide and know what you see, a tour organized in this way may want to be limited to the driver to a known route, but some are knowledgeable. are known to places with souvenirs of people who took ExpectDriver, this can also happen on an official tour if it is more annoying.

The larger the island, the more room for visiting places of interest. However, the smaller islands have special themes such as diving or fishing - or just lazing on a sunny beach.
