Interesting and Different Southern Caribbean (Off-) Shore Excursions

For those of you who have been on our side, or followed some of our articles, as you know we are taking a Southern Caribbean cruise aboard the magnificent Golden Princess cruise ship. This is a family get-together-vacation with three (and half) generations candidate in. Our whole family is something beach-babies/water-babies so the shore excursions of interest to some of us are beach and water.

We have our cruise packagePrincess and is a booklet - 2005/2006 Southern Caribbean shore excursions. It is interesting trips to Port-of-filled compound appears. For keen swimmers, there are the usual motor boat, sailing boat, party boating, kayaking, snorkeling and diving excursions. But there are a few (off-) shore excursions, which are relatively new or different that caught my eye.

Snuba Diving

This is not miss-spelling. This activity is a crossbetween snorkeling and scuba diving. I am not a diver, although I am quite sure that I would find it exciting. I thoroughly enjoy snorkeling and Snuba sounds like a fascinating way to experience scuba diving in shallow waters. Facilities include the same type of breathing mouthpiece, that you would use when diving. The mouthpiece is a 20 or 25 feet of driving distance of containers on a raft attached to the service. Wherever you go, the raft follows easily. ImagineDiving without heavy equipment. Our brochure lists Snuba diving as a sanctioned country trip only in Barbados, but it is in many other areas are available throughout the Caribbean.

Helmet Dive

Think Captain Nemo! Helmet Diving has become a craze in the underwater world tour circuit. The specially designed helmet and air system keeps your hair dry and even allows you to wear your glasses if necessary. Guided walks under water you can walk withThe anima ... no ... Fish. Our Princess brochure offers this activity in Aruba and St. Thomas.

BOB Underwater Adventure

Now think Captain Nemo in the 25th Century! BOB stands for Breathing Observation Bubble. A similar device to the helmet diving, can re-trippers underwater life without enjoying themselves with wet hair and the wearing of glasses. The difference is that you also ride what looks like an underwater scooter. How cool would that be? This activity isin our booklet for St. Thomas also listed.

Power Snorkel Adventures

This measure adds a little twist to a conventional snorkeling excursion. You have a hand-held "Scooter" pushes up easily and elegantly through the water. For those of you old enough to remember, this was a regular type of equipment from Lloyd Bridges in the weekly TV show Sea Hunt used. Of course, more up-to-date films were involved with this device as a "prop" had. For those who likebe able to float on the salty without effort, this can be the trip for you. Some of these tours have special underwater microphones for the tour guides explain the areas traveled. The Princess booklet offers power snorkeling in Aruba, Barbados and St. Maarten.

Whale Watching

Whale watching?? In the Caribbean? Now for some people this does not sound weird. I associate with Alaska cruises and whale watching boat trips in the CanadianNortheast. This activity in the Caribbean sounds to me almost a stranger, however, to know how cold and miserable, the Canadian cruise can, I think I can enjoy Caribbean whale watching much more! And according to my handy-dandy booklet from Princess, there are more than 40 different species of whales and dolphins in the waters around St. Lucia.

America's Cup regatta

This excursion is for sailors missing the experienceLaughter of racing on one of the multi-million dollar America's Cup 12-meter racing yachts. They compete in a real race around a shortened America's Cup course. You are also invited to operate the boat if desired. Of course you can just sit back and enjoy the ride. This trip is recognized as one of the best shore excursions in the Caribbean and is only on St. Maarten.

The route selected by us does not include Southern Caribbean Cruiseall the ports mentioned above. Many of the measures to be taken at our ports-of-call are available.
