5 Steps to Get a Job on a Cruise Ship

Would you like to get a job on a cruise ship? I know you do!

If you have not been on a cruise, the enjoyable activities, the wonderful people, the entertainment, the food, the atmosphere... Ah, it is a floating paradise.

But wait, how about working there? That way you get to enjoy what cruise vacations has to offer and get paid as well! Working in cruise ships gives you all the things you desire in life - Travel, Fun, Entertainment, Romance, and a steady paycheck!

There are many jobs, cruise companies are required. After all, cruise ships are like floating cities. Cruise Lines always hire people with experience in entertainment, health, engineering, gaming, beauty and fitness, management, financial management, and much more. To work there, you always have a positive attitude and always ready to experience a safe, fun and memorable holiday.

Research Cruise line companies

Search online about different cruise line companies. Determine which companies have the largest fleets. Royal Caribbean International, Princess and Carnival cruise lines are known as the 'Big Three' in the industry. They have the three largest fleets. Consequently, they have more jobs to offer.

You got to find out which cruise lines caters to which type of vacationers, what ports they visit and other aspects that may be of use to you. It is also important to know which companies have new ships. New ships mean more job positions to fill.

Get job position listings

Once you have decided which carrier appeals to you, get a listing of the available positions they offer. You must understand that different cruises have different needs. Not all cruises cater the same market. There are family cruises, and there are cruises strictly for adults.

Take your Pick

Decide which job positions interest you the most. You must also base it on your personal strengths, education, and work experience to improve your chances of employment.

Update Resume

Always keep an updated resume. Highlight your skills which you think will be most useful aboard cruise ships. If you have certifications like in CPR, Public Speaking, hospitality service, etc... be sure to emphasize them. They appeal to cruise line companies and it will take you ahead of the competition. If you still don't have these types of training and certifications, it is time to get some.

All established cruise companies have a website. Most have online application systems. Follow the instructions to the letter and apply accordingly.
